We met Janet on our first trip to Chic Chateau - the most beautiful and peaceful place in all of Haiti and possibly the world (in our opinion). She is the most lovely host and every time we went for a visit, we loved continuing to build a relationship with her, her team and some of our favorite local business owners.
These bamboo straws made by the Chapichou Boys Co-op was birthed out of Janet's desire to have a sustainable straw option available to her guests at Chic Chateau. She showed the boys bamboo straws she had from Bali and they quickly got to work on making their own with a Haiti twist. Soon after, many of the guests a Chic Chateau loved the straws so much, they were buying them by the dozen. With the money made from the bamboo straws, each of the 'Chapichou Boys' are able to attend school in Jacmel.
Our bamboo straws are the perfect sustainable addition to any iced coffee, piña colada, or even, a glass of water.
